The Aquarium
Uniquely uniformed classrooms
Scurry in unison
And in a
serendipitous moment
Scamper to chase the rising baubles
Hypnotic and beckoning fingers
Tease their appetites for
something new
But those with vulnerable tails
Stay close and follow suit
Diving below the blinding
glare
And burn of consciousness
They seek the safety of rituals
And the mask of timelessness.
Predators
of the iconoclasts
Always attend graduation day
Looking for pupils who surface or sound
And drown them as isolation’s
prey.
