FELICITY
Working-class dreamer
On privileged sojourn,
In cameo appearance,
Caught a glimpse of her star-lit eyes
A stroke of
luck for his fantasy canvass
A leading lady from first glance
And
he, the fair lady’s felicitous squire.
With his poetry and heart
in hand,
She tasted and shared, lovingly,
The bohemian offerings
till early morn
After coupled moons, they were carried to the past
In the misty-eyed
afternoon
At sunset, a toast
And the baring of souls in opulence
Gentle
discourse, warmed by drink
And her caressing fingertips
Denim and silk
never matched so well.
Imagination and resignation
Soon
to be realized…
Longing goodbyes chaperoned
By
the best in their hearts.
As tears dissolved his dream
He
thankfully bowed towards his lucky stars
And the scrapers that exclaimed them.
With
heavy heart and gentle kiss,
He whispered…
Fair thee well Felicity…
